The Company

Kate Elizabeth Photography got its start in 2012 when I took a photography class at Pierce College in Los Angeles, and I chose to capture mothers and children for my final project.  I put out a call for volunteers with different numbers of children, and went to work capturing the most beautiful bonds between women and their little ones.  It was magical, and one of those images has been pinned on Pinterest more than 1,500 times!  I knew then that family portraiture was where I needed to be.

I went on to train in photojournalism, and learned the art of telling people’s stories through beautiful imagery. Following that, I went to South Africa for the first time, to a community called Embo that struggles with deep poverty and disease. There, my skills grew by leaps and bounds as I documented and fell in love with the beautiful Zulu people. I ended up going back three more times, and I am always looking for my next opportunity to serve on a missions team with my camera. Between trips, I’m here to serve local families with that same documentary style. I want to tell your story. My goal is to document life one family at a time.

I currently live and shoot primarily in Lynchburg, VA but I am willing to travel anywhere to tell your story.

The Artist

Hi! I’m Kate.

Here are some things about me in no particular order:

  1. I love to sing. I’m not bad, but I will never try out for a singing competition show, although I love to watch them.

  2. Speaking of shows, my husband Tim and I did a weight loss reality show right before we got married in 2016.

  3. I’m a cat person. Even though I adore my two dogs (a Husky/Great Dane/German Shepherd/Shar Pei mix named Blue, and a Husky named Teddy), I am a cat person to my very core. My three cats can be found sleeping on and around me every single night, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Their names are Vader Poe (he’s all black), Ella May (a beautiful tank of a Calico), and Green Eggs and Hamilton (a hilarious Siamese). I’m always threatening to get more cats, but I think my husband would actually disown me if I did.

  4. I have more nicknames than anyone I’ve ever met. A friend once wrote a poem for my birthday that included all of my nicknames, and it’s a treasure to me!

  5. My sister is my very best friend.

  6. Ok, this one’s crazy: My sister and I have the same birthday in March (we’re two years apart), and our husbands have the same birthday in January!

  7. I was homeschooled until high school. And then I LOVED high school. I’m very social and loved being with friends all the time. If I could go back and relive it, I absolutely would!

  8. I really love cooking and baking.

  9. I am from Los Angeles and have spent the most years of my life there, but I’ve also lived in Tucson for many years, in South Dakota and Germany for 6 months each, and now in Lynchburg since 2021.

  10. I love to travel. Planes, trains, road trips: I’m up for it all! But I’ve never been on a cruise.

  11. I am always correcting spelling and grammar and catching errors in everything I read.

  12. Last, but most important: I love Jesus, and my life belongs to him.
